Thelma and Louise Spanish Version Part 1: L.A.

So I know I haven’t been posting in a while, but believe it or not, graduation, figuring out what to do next and dealing with an immense pile of pictures to edit and a new project to write takes a little bit of time. Add in the month I actually spent travelling and a express trip to Arenal Sounds and then Germany and, go figure, it’s August and I can’t even believe it.

One of the beautiful things of handing in your dissertation and getting on with a well deserved summer holiday means, for the clever and restless graduate, one thing and one thing only: travelling. My trip started in L.A. where I met up with my best friend.

I had heard wonders about L.A., the glamour, the movie stars, Hollywood, beautiful people and endless beaches and to some extent, I was not disappointed. In fact, this is Venice Beach.Clara and the Pacific Ocean

And this is Hollywood.

However, what shocked me the most in this wonderful city was the invisible and stunning class differences, as well as the decadent ambiance you could breathe with every step in every street. The image below was taken quickly, from a car and without much thinking. I took it thinking that in that split second I finally understood the paradox of USA’s society: excess and dearth coexisting under the same roof.

  1. Loved the entry. LA is definitely not what we are told.
